Best-practice installation

SEANZ registered. Standards compliant. Every job.

Solar is electrical work on your roof. It has to be done safely and correctly. Every Bryte Solar installation is designed and installed in line with the relevant AS/NZS standards and New Zealand regulations.

Our commitment

SEANZ registered installers

Our installers are registered with SEANZ, the Sustainable Electricity Association of New Zealand, the industry body for solar and distributed energy in Aotearoa.

That means our team works to the industry's code of practice and technical guidelines, keeps training up to date, and is accountable to a recognised national association.

All electrical connection work is carried out or supervised by electricians registered with the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB), and every job is signed off with the appropriate certification.

Industry insight

What you should know about solar in NZ.

Solar is one of the fastest-growing energy choices for Kiwi households. Here's the straight-talking context to help you decide.

Sunshine

NZ has great solar conditions

Many parts of New Zealand get over 2,000 sunshine hours a year. Solar also works in cloudy weather and cooler temperatures, which help panels run efficiently.

Savings

Use it yourself to save most

Retailer buy-back rates for exported power are usually well below what you pay to import. Shifting usage to daytime (hot water, EV charging, laundry) or adding a battery maximises savings.

Batteries

Batteries add resilience

A battery stores surplus daytime energy for evenings and, with the right set-up, can keep essential circuits running during a power cut.

Payback

A long-term investment

Payback depends on your usage, roof, location and system size. A well-designed system typically pays for itself well within the life of the panels, and our Suntech panels carry a 25-year product and 30-year performance warranty.

Quality

Not all installs are equal

Poor installs can mean leaks, fire risk and under-performance. Ask any installer about their SEANZ registration, standards compliance and certification.

Future

Ready for EVs & electrification

As Kiwis move to EVs and heat pumps, home solar helps cover the extra demand with your own clean, renewable energy.

How big a system do I need?

It depends on your household's power use, roof space and orientation, and budget. We look at your power bills and daily usage pattern to recommend the right size, typically between 5 and 10 kW for a family home.

Do I need council consent?

Most standard rooftop solar installations in New Zealand don't need building consent, but some situations do (for example heritage areas or some structural changes). We check this for every job.

What happens to the power I don't use?

Surplus power is exported to the grid and your electricity retailer credits you at their buy-back rate. We help you find a retailer plan that suits a solar home.

How long does installation take?

Most residential installations are completed in one to two days once approvals from your lines company are in place.
